Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, who made history as the first Indian to perform at Coachella, recently reminisced about a time when he nearly ran away from home at the age of 8. The Punjabi singer explained that his motivation to flee was a girl at his school on whom he had a crush and the fear of his parents’ scolding.
In a conversation with Raj Shamani, the ‘Crew’ actor shared that he attempted to run away from home because of a girl he liked in school. He recalled that his seniors would randomly ask students, “Tereko kaun ladki pasand hai? (Who do you like?)” When he pointed out the girl he liked, his senior suggested he confess his feelings and say they would get married. Following this advice, he told the girl they would get married, but she complained to the teacher, who then insisted he bring his parents. At that moment, he felt like it was the end of the world.
Diljit added that he grabbed two bananas and some other fruits from the fridge, took his bike, and ran away from home. However, he had only gone five minutes away when a villager yelled at him to go back home. In those days, it was common for villagers to scold and even slap children, treating them like family. The man’s intervention made him return home. The next day, Diljit lied about having a stomach ache and skipped school for two days, after which his teacher let the incident go.
Today, July 17, the creators of Kalki 2898 AD have unveiled what is being hailed as India’s biggest song of the year—the Bhairava Anthem. This song brings together India’s most formidable talents, featuring global icons Prabhas and Diljit Dosanjh in a collaboration that fans have eagerly awaited.
