NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi met Pope Francis on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. He later said in a post on X he admires the Pope’s commitment to serve people and make the planet better.
PM Modi also invited him to visit India. The PM, in fact, had invited him to visit India in 2021 too when he met him during his visit to Italy for the G20 summit. The Pope had then received him in the Vatican for what was the first meeting between the leaders.According to Vatican News, Modi had then gifted the Pope a silver candlestick and a book on the commitment to the environment. The Pope had reciprocated with a bronze plaque.
