Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine as Light’ wins big at Cannes; PM Modi, Javed Akhtar & other celebs congratulate the filmmaker

Set in 1893 colonial India, Lagaan tells the story of a drought-stricken village burdened by exorbitant taxes imposed by the oppressive British Raj. The villagers, led by the determined Bhuvan (Aamir Khan), face a daunting challenge: to win a game of cricket against their overconfident British oppressors.
With no prior knowledge of cricket, the villagers must defy the odds, learning the game while confronting their own fate. This epic story of resilience, unity, and the struggle for freedom struck a chord with audiences around the globe, becoming an enduring symbol of determination and hope.
