Manoj Kumar Verma, a 1998-batch IPS officer known for handling crises, has taken over as Kolkata Police commissioner from Vineet Goyal. This move follows CM Mamata Banerjee’s discussions with junior doctors protesting the RG Kar hospital rape-murder case. Other key officials were also replaced to meet the doctors’ demands.
