India’s premier educational institutions, particularly the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), continue to exclude Dalits and other marginalised communities despite Constitutional reservation mandates. IIMs, including Lucknow, Indore, and Tiruchirapalli, show alarming underrepresentation of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) in faculty positions. This exclusion perpetuates systemic inequality, limiting intellectual diversity and creating barriers for marginalised students. Calls for exemption from reservation policies threaten to further entrench caste-based discrimination in academia.
