The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has criticized the ruling CPI (M), accusing it of conducting “anti-Muslim campaigns” during the Lok Sabha elections. According to IUML, these campaigns contributed to the BJP winning the Thrissur seat and making its entry into Kerala. The IUML, a significant ally in the Congress-led UDF opposition, dismissed the Marxist party’s claim that without the Left, Muslims would become second-class citizens.
