PM Narendra Modi is likely to skip the SCO summit hosted by Kazakhstan in Astana due to ongoing Parliament session. He will miss the chance to engage with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif. Given the state of relations with both countries, Modi perhaps won’t mind not having any sort of engagement with Xi and Sharif. India, however, has said in the past it attaches great importance to SCO for peace, stability and economic development of the region.
