Sunita Rajwar recently shared that she used to hide her father’s profession as a truck driver until she grew older and came to understand that it was something to be proud of.
In a recent interview with Digital Commentary, Sunita reflected on her time studying alongside children from affluent backgrounds. She remembered not fully grasping the significance of her father being a truck driver while ensuring they had access to education at a prestigious institution.
She mentioned that at her school, many students had fathers who were businessmen, lawyers, or doctors.Consequently, when asked to introduce herself and share her family background at the start of each school year, Sunita would change her father’s profession to fit in.

The 54-year-old explained that she felt ashamed because many of her schoolmates were dropped off by drivers and had freshly-made food provided during lunch. In such a setting, she struggled to acknowledge her father’s profession as a truck driver.
She also shared that it took her a long time to gather the courage to openly discuss her father’s profession and to appreciate its value. Sunita confessed that her father had taken on various odd jobs, including working as a shopkeeper’s assistant, before becoming a truck driver, using all his savings to support the family.
In Panchayat Sunita portrays Kranti Devi, a sharp and essential opposition figure in the political arena. In Sony LIV’s Gullak, she plays Bittu Ki Mummy, a character who, while similar in some ways, significantly stands out in an impressive ensemble cast.
