Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer Mr. & Mrs. Mahi , directed by Sharan Sharma and backed by Karan Johar, saw a great start to its innings at the box office where it minted about Rs 24.45 crore in its first week. But the film began to lose steam in the second with the release of Abhay Verma, Sharvari and Mona Singh starrer Munjya which took the box office by surprise. In the second week, the relationship drama between Rajkummar and Jahvi was able to add only Rs 8.8 crore to its kitty, taking the two week collection to Rs 33.25 crore.
The film entered the third week on a very slope note, as on Friday, it earned only Rs 30 lakhs which was a 60% drop from the previous collection of Rs 75 lakh. Another reason for that can be attributed to the release of Kartik Aaryan- Kabir Khan and Sajid Nadiwala’s Chandu Champion which released this week. The film was selling tickets only for Rs 150 on Friday, and saw a collection upwards of Rs 4.50 crore.
But Saturday was a good day for the team of Mr and Mrs Mahi as it saw its collection jump by 100 %. The film earned Rs 60 lakh as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 34.15 crore. The film marks the second hit of Rajkummar Rao in the year, first being Srikanth which is running towards Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. He will next be seen in Stree 2 which is slated to release on 15th August and its teaser was recently attached to Munjya.
